Circuit training is a form of body conditioning or resistance training usually using high intensity aerobics, however it can be moulded to suit any style of training. It targets strength building or muscular endurance and normally consists of high volume (repetitions) with short rest intervals between exercises & sets.
Circuit training is a great way to squeeze an explosive workout in a short period of time. Generally these type of workouts last between 15-30 minutes due to the high output required to complete the circuit, so if you’re pressed for time or just want to push yourself, circuit training is the way to go.
Circuit training is also an excellent way to improve mobility, strength & stamina. It is appropriate form of training for most sports and can be adjusted to suit age, fitness level and health of the athlete. The wide range of exercises in a circuit will also maintain enthusiasm & interest during the workout. Circuit training is a great tool to achieve a whole body workout.
Plan your session on paper – choose 6-10 exercises that can be performed, whilst avoiding exercises that work the same muscle group consecutively. A good plan would be total body, upper body, lower body, core, total body, upper body etc. Make sure you always warm up & cool down with your sessions. The duration of each exercise will be dependant on your goals, but a simple plan to stick by is 30 seconds work, 30 seconds rest.
Generally this style of training can be 2-3 times a week with 48 hours rest between sessions. We have a wide range of equipment to cater for this type of training.
